Department of English

Established in 2001, the department of English aims at fostering the communication skills and employability of its students. The department considers its mission to equip the students of the college with correct and efficient use of the global language. The department gives practical training in improving students’ basic functional English by offering short-term sessions in the language lab, vocational training programmes and certificate courses for interested students under the banner of the Rural English Literacy Programme (RELP). The Department runs a Certificate Course in “Content Creation through New Media.”

The Department of English has embarked upon an ambitious programme, by constituting a Shakespeare Club, to make the lovers of English literature in our College enjoy Shakespeare’s works. The Club enacts scenes from Shakespeare’s plays.

The Department has already completed 3 minor research projects. The department conducts several student enrichment programmes, seminars and talks by eminent academicians. Currently, there are 6 regular faculty members and 1 guest faculty working in the department. The department publishes its Newsletter ‘GAZZETTA ANGLORUM’ annually.
