B.Com. (Finance & Taxation)
B.Com. is a three-year undergraduate programme designed to offer knowledge in specialised subjects like Accounting, Banking, Quantitative Techniques, Entrepreneurship Development finance and taxation. The Department of Commerce has been enlightening generations since 1980. The sanctioned strength of the programme is 66. The programme follows the syllabus framed by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
The course is divided into six semesters. In addition to the Core Courses and Complementary Courses, students have to study English and any one of the Additional Languages. Students can opt Malayalam or Hindi as the additional Languages during their first and second semesters. In addition to that an inter-departmental open course is also offered as per the syllabus.
On successful completion of B.Com., one can avail plenty of career opportunities in the field of Banking, Accounting, Insurance, Finance and Taxation. Depending on the area of interest, there are opportunities for many higher education courses and professional programmes. The students can opt for a Master’s degree in Commerce or pursue professional courses like CA, CS, ACCA etc. after B.Com.
