B.A Economics

The Undergraduate Department of Economics was started in 1965. In its great endeavour of facilitating excellence in education, the graduate course offered by the department (CBCS BA Economics Model I) is envisaged with a particular focus on combining the theory paper provided by the university with contemporary economic issues. The sanctioned strength of the course is 60. 

Programme Overview

BA Economics programme offers two complementary courses – History and Political Science. In addition to the Core Courses and Complementary Courses, students have to study English as a Common Course and any one of the Additional Languages – Malayalam and Hindi. Besides, fifth semester students have to select one Open Course as part of their curriculum.

Career Opportunities

A variety of career paths are available for graduate students in the field of economics. Undergraduate students can appear for the Civil Service Examination. They can even pursue their higher studies with specialisation in Econometrics, development economics, agricultural economics etc.
